ITIF Welcomes Joe Coniglio as New Director of the Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy

September 6, 2023

WASHINGTON—The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, welcomes Joe Coniglio as the new director of the Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy.

“ITIF has a reputation for rigorous research, informed analysis, and thoughtful policy recommendations,” said Joe Coniglio. “Current U.S. antitrust policy is shifting focus away from dynamic competition in the name of a flawed antitrust reform movement that will ultimately harm consumers. I’m looking forward to continuing ITIF’s work in ensuring innovation is at the forefront of U.S. competition policy.”

Coniglio comes to ITIF from the law firm Sidley Austin, where he worked as an attorney specializing in civil non-merger investigations and counseling for large technology and financial services companies. He also advised clients on issues involving the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property, including a brief before the Ninth Circuit in FTC v. Qualcomm. Prior to that, Joe worked at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, in addition to his work as a legal intern at both the FTC and FCC. He was also a paralegal specialist in the Technology and Digital Platforms Section in the DOJ's Antitrust Division.

“Joe’s addition to our team reaffirms our commitment to promote a fair and dynamic marketplace to bolster the innovation economy,” said Rob Atkinson, president of ITIF. “Through his leadership, ITIF will continue to provide a strong voice in shaping antitrust policies that support both innovation and U.S. global competitiveness.”
