How Can Canadian Policymakers Improve the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act?
Wednesday, July 17, 202411:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST
Virtual Webinar

Event Summary

Two years have passed since the introduction of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) as a part of Bill C-27, and its journey through Parliament shows no signs of concluding soon. Some view AIDA as a potential existential risk to AI innovation in Canada, while others see AI itself as a significant threat to Canadian society. As we stand at this crossroads, the critical question arises: Should parliamentarians persist on the current trajectory, or are there more effective ways for the government to foster the responsible adoption of AI technologies among Canadians and Canadian businesses?

Join ITIF’s Centre for Canadian Innovation and Competitiveness for an engaging discussion with leading international experts and peers. This virtual panel will explore the current state of Canadian AI regulation, where to go from here, and what alternative approaches policymakers should consider.
