Stargate Venture Highlights Support for AI Growth in New Administration, Says ITIF
WASHINGTON—In response to President Trump’s announcement of Stargate, a new American company committing $500 billion to AI infrastructure in the United States, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, released the following statement from Vice President Daniel Castro:
The Stargate announcement highlights a shared commitment between the Trump administration and tech leaders to secure America’s future in AI. By committing up to $500 billion to build state-of-the-art AI infrastructure, these companies are demonstrating their confidence in the U.S. as a hub for innovation. This partnership reflects a shared goal: creating the foundation for the U.S. to thrive in the AI economy. While the global AI race won’t be won overnight, scoring major points in the first days of this new administration shows the U.S. tech industry is reinvigorated and ready to take bold steps forward with this new administration.
Securing U.S. leadership in AI is critical as a recent ITIF report found that it is only a matter of time before China matches or surpasses the United States’ capabilities in AI. Despite extensive U.S. efforts to restrict China’s access to advanced technology through export controls, China continues to advance through strategic investments and a robust innovation ecosystem.
