Recommendation
The administration should expand new cohorts of Presidential Innovation Fellows to at least 100 individuals going forward.
Details
The government is not very effective in delivering services to low-income and communities of color due to budget constraints, outdated IT systems, and less pressure faced compared to the private sector. To tackle this issue, the next administration should expand the Presidential Innovation Fellows (PIF) program to an annual new cohort of at least 100 individuals, and it should maintain this new rate going forward. The administration also should consider adding a new intergovernmental element to the program that will enable local governments to receive consultations from the fellows.
