ITIF submitted comments to the U.S. Copyright Office on how it can update the notice-and-takedown process for illegal content to better balance the rights of copyright owners, online service providers, and users, as well as reduce online infringement. By upholding strong copyright protections, encouraging new and innovative approaches to protect rights holders, and convening a multistakeholder dialogue on the notice-and-takedown process, the U.S. Copyright Office can ensure that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act protects intellectual property, while not sacrificing user freedom and commercial innovation online.
