ITIF signed a letter in support of the SPEAK FREE Act of 2015, which would allow federal courts to determine whether a lawsuit targeting speech is a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (SLAPP) and dismiss any bogus claims unless the plaintiff can show that the suit would succeed on the merits. It also includes fee-shifting provisions that protect defendants who prevail on an anti-SLAPP motion from having to pay legal fees.
