Steve Capanna is Director of U.S. Climate Policy and Analysis at Environmental Defense Fund, where he works on climate and innovation policy. Steve joined EDF in April 2019, following more than eight years at the Department of Energy, where he held a number of roles, including most recently Director of Strategic Priorities and Impact Analysis in the office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. Steve also spent a year at the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality, where he focused on energy efficiency policy, and worked for five years on policy and research at the Alliance to Save Energy, an energy efficiency advocacy organization. Steve earned a Master’s of Arts in International Energy & Environmental Policy and International Economics from Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies, and his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Political Science and French.
