Scott Knight is currently the Head of Genome Editing and Yield, Disease & Quality Research within the Plant Biotechnology organization at Bayer Crop Science. He joined Bayer in 2013 as the Molecular Biology Platform Lead in the Chemistry organization and transitioned into leading the BioDirect Enabling Technologies Program. In 2016, he moved to the Biotechnology organization within Bayer to lead the Genome Editing Strategy in Crop Science R&D. Prior to joining Bayer, Scott was the Gene Regulation Research and Development Manager at Sigma-Aldrich in St. Louis. In this role, Scott led the gene editing and RNA interference R&D organization that developed multiple products based on these technologies for the academic and consumable research markets.

Before moving to industry in 2009, Scott was an Assistant Professor at the University of Richmond in Virginia. Scott’s lab at the University conducted research on the basic underlying mechanisms of RNA-mediated gene regulation and how these pathways regulate cellular development. Scott holds a B.S. in Biology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Microbiology; he completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Utah.
