Kenneth E. Thorpe, Ph.D., is the honorary Chair of the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease and a Robert W. Woodruff Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. A leading expert on health care financing and reform, Dr. Thorpe has held faculty positions at Tulane, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Harvard, and Columbia, and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Policy at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he helped lead the Clinton administration’s health reform efforts. A widely published researcher, Dr. Thorpe has testified before Congress and worked with a broad range of health care organizations and leaders focusing on improving care, prevention, and long-term sustainability of the health system.
