Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology’s Open Innovation Group

Ida is the Senior Manager of Business Development for Samsung’s Advanced Institute of Technology’s Open Innovation Group where her primary role is to acquire intellectual property assets for the company. She is also charged with developing partnerships with startups, universities and federal labs. Ida’s career began as a patent attorney where she then moved onto licensing and commercialization. For the last ten years, she’s worked at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) creating technology partnerships with industry, private entities, non-profits and academia. Ida has been responsible for the commercialization of technologies in areas relating to biotechnology, chemistry, materials, national security and industrial processes.

Ida earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from UCLA and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame Law School, she was elected by her peers to lead the Journal of Legislation as the Editor-in-Chief. She is admitted to practice before the California State Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ida is a Trustee for the Licensing Executives Society’s (LES) Board. Ida actively participates in LES where she has contributed both as a speaker, organizer of meeting content and Chair of the Industry-University-Government Interface Sector. Ida served as the Far West Regional Coordinator for the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC). She was recognized as the Far West Region’s Outstanding Laboratory Representative.
