Corey Johnston

Chief Competition Officer and Senior Advisor

U.S. Department of State

Corey Johnston serves as the Chief Competition Officer at the U.S. Department of State. In this role, he is responsible for advancing American national security and economic competitiveness interests across private sector, the interagency, and partners and allies. He spent 20 years in the Navy as an operational and policy practitioner in national security, strategy, economic competitiveness, and critical technology. He was a Senior Adviser for Industrial Policy for the Department of Defense and a Diplomat and Assistant Naval Attache in China. Before his current post, Johnston served as Director of International Outreach in the Office of Commercial and Economic Analysis.
