Nanosolar

Brian Sager founded Nanosolar in 2001 and has served in a range of roles since inception including product development, finance and sales. He currently manages the company's government programs, strategic partnerships, and intellectual property portfolio. He is also deeply involved in the development of Nanosolar’s process and product technology and has more than 95 patents issued or pending.

Under his direction, Nanosolar has received nearly $100 million in Federal support including extensive collaboration with the Departments of Energy and Defense. He has been a Principal Investigator for substantial research contracts from the Department of Defense and DARPA, the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, and the California Energy Commission.

Prior to founding Nanosolar, he led a high-growth biotechnology practice at Ernst & Young where he advised private and public companies at all stages of growth on corporate finance issues, R&D portfolio management, M&A, and technology licensing. He is also an individual network member of Global Business Network and Monitor Company, a global strategy consulting company, with whom he worked within the biotechnology indusry. Sager earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stanford University where he was a National Science Foundation predoctoral fellow and did his postdoctoral work at Harvard University, where he was a Whitney fellow.
