Reversing Canada’s Investment Problem
Event Summary
Canada faces a structural capital crisis. Since 2014, Canadian firms and pension funds have deployed more capital abroad than the world has invested in Canada. Domestic investment has fallen below what the economy needs, and foreign capital is no longer filling the gap. Businesses are deferring upgrades, automation is slowing, and the average worker now has less capital support than they did a decade ago. Reversing this decline will not be easy, but it is possible. It will require deliberate, structural reform to make Canada a more investable place to build, scale, and compete.
Please join ITIF’s Centre for Canadian Innovation and Competitiveness for a virtual panel featuring leading experts who will discuss what is driving Canada’s capital exodus and what it will take to fix it.
