Using Data to Fight Counterfeiting in E-commerce

Using Data to Fight Counterfeiting in E-commerce
Wednesday, March 17, 202110:00 AM to 11:00 AM EST
Virtual Webinar

Event Summary

Despite ongoing efforts by brand sellers, online marketplaces, and law enforcement agencies, some counterfeiters continue to evade detection—putting the health and safety of Americans at risk, hurting the economic interests of U.S. businesses, and undermining consumer trust. To improve trust and safety in e-commerce and respond to this threat, stakeholders should come together to better share up-to-date information on counterfeiting activities and use AI to identify and disrupt counterfeiting networks. How would existing legislative proposals address this problem, and what other steps can policymakers take to support an anti-counterfeiting data-sharing partnership between the public and private sector?

ITIF's Center for Data Innovation hosted a video webinar to discuss the role of data and AI to counter the growing threat from global counterfeiting networks.
