Finite Spectrum, Infinite Demand: Solving the Spectrum Crunch
Event Summary
The way spectrum is allocated grows more out of date every day. With the proliferation of mobile wireless devices and increasing bandwidth usage, why are we still constrained by policies created when Jack Benny ruled the radio airwaves? ITIF is pleased to co-sponsor a major policy forum hosted by CQ/Roll Call on November 30. Veteran journalists will probe public officials and policy experts, including ITIF President Rob Atkinson, about how to assign spectrum to maximize innovation and advance economic opportunities enabled by mobile broadband in a fair manner. The event takes place as wireless companies, broadcasters and other stakeholders are battling over how to answer these questions and as Congress once again eyes spectrum auctions as a source of needed revenue.
