Confirmation of Olivia Trusty Clears Path for FCC To Focus on Consumers, Says ITIF

June 17, 2025

WASHINGTON—Following the Senate confirmation of Olivia Trusty as a FCC Commissioner, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, released the following statement from Joe Kane, director of broadband and spectrum policy:

We congratulate Olivia on her confirmation and welcome her deep experience and expertise on communications policy.
With a quorum in place, the FCC should turn its attention to advancing policies that benefit consumers: productive spectrum use, broadband adoption, and growing the space economy. By focusing on these priorities, rather than partisan sideshows like content regulation and ungermane merger conditions, the Commission can help ensure U.S. leadership in connectivity.
