The National Science Foundation should offer grants to several universities that put forward the best proposals for degrees in industrial policy.
Details
The NSF Technology Innovation Partnership (TIP) program was developed to play a more central role in supporting advanced industry development, a key strategy in winning the industrial competition against China. However, no universities in the United States offer programs specifically training students in national innovation systems or industrial strategy, productivity, and competitiveness. TIP should offer a modest grant to several universities that come up with the best proposals to establish a master’s degree in industrial policy.
