WASHINGTON—As the U.S. House of Representatives moves to vote on amendments to the America COMPETES 2022 bill, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, released the following statement from the director of ITIF’s Center for Clean Energy Innovation, David Hart:
ITIF salutes the House’s support for the creation of a new Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation. The new foundation will be a welcome partner for the U.S. Department of Energy as DOE seeks to accelerate innovation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Based on a proven model, the new foundation will be a nimble partnership-builder, advancing DOE’s mission across a wide range of energy and climate challenges.
ITIF Senior Fellow Jetta Wong added:
The Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation is an idea whose time has come. It has won overwhelming bipartisan support in both houses of Congress and been endorsed by a diverse group of more than sixty stakeholders, including philanthropies, investors, businesses, and nonprofits. I hope to see it swiftly implemented and take its place as a key pillar in the United States clean energy innovation ecosystem
