ITIF Commends House for Sending American Innovation and Competitiveness Act to President’s Desk
WASHINGTON—The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading U.S. science and tech policy think tank, today ITIF released the followed statement from President Robert D. Atkinson:
We commend policymakers for sending the American Innovation and Competitiveness Act to the president's desk. Reauthorizing this legislation is essential because given the decline in R&D funding and the dramatic increase in technological competencies of our economic competitors, we can no longer simply hope that some of the R&D funding ends up actually being used. This bill is so important because it focuses on improving the efficiency of the process by which federally funded knowledge creation leads to actual innovation and U.S. jobs.
Atkinson testified on this legislation before the Senate Commerce Committee in May 2016.
