Trump’s Carrier Deal Opens Door to New Economic Approach for Feds
President-elect Trump promised a new approach to economic policy, and we are already seeing it with his deal to keep Carrier from moving 800 union jobs to Mexico, writes Rob Atkinson in The Hill. The deal has been lambasted, but we really should welcome it because it signals a break from the failed Washington economic consensus that holds that all industries are of equal value and any policies directed at specific firms or industries are inherently suspect “industrial policy” or “corporate welfare.”
