Rob Atkinson writes in the Christian Science Monitor that it is time for policy elites to stop their pious defense of any and all trade, even when U.S. trading partners slyly adopt mercantilist policies. And it is time for outsiders to accept that globalization is here to stay. Both sides need to start advocating for a new approach that combines vigorous enforcement of global rules with a national competitiveness strategy.
