Vijay Sondhi
Vijay’s primary focus at Visa is the extension of its innovation practice to focus on developing a master showcase, illustrating the "future of payments" to major banking, merchant, and other payment eco-system partners at Visa's new state-of-the-art innovation facilities, including the One Market Center in San Francisco.
As a technology executive with over 20 years of experience, Vijay has worked on many projects involving the scaling of startups as well as the managing and developing of profitable high growth companies. He has also played important roles as a corporate executive, entrepreneur, and investor with proven experience across all aspects of running a technology business. He is also extremely passionate about the intersection of commerce, technology and global business.
Most recently, throughout 2014, Vijay has held the position of General Manager for CyberSource and Authorize.Net after they had been wholly acquired by Visa. He was responsible for the overall P&L, global sales, business operations and global services. CyberSource is one of the world's leading "Payments as a Service" SaaS providers, offering full payment connectivity, security and analytics solutions to the world's top e-commerce merchants. CyberSource reported processing over 2 billion transactions in the fourth quarter of 2014 and achieved a 16% transaction growth rate.
Vijay’s executive management experience at three successful startups shine light on Vijay’s passion for innovation and his fast growth in leadership:
- Fidelio Software (now Oracle) from software engineer to product manager to CFO of what became the leading provider of property management systems to the hotel industry worldwide.
- iXOS Software (now OpenText) as CFO, which executed IPO on NASDAQ. Vijay also held responsibility for North American field operations and support.
- Xenon Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:XENE) where he held positions of CFO and COO, a clinical stage bio-pharmaceutical company.
Vijay is also a recognized angel investor in NXN Digital Entertainment (acquired by NASDAQ:AVID) and Your Voice, a cloud based client engagement SaaS company. He has been a charter member for over 10 years at TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), helping to foster entrepreneurship globally. He also gained much of his venture and institutional investing experience at WarburgPincus, Allianz Venture Partners, KanAm Intl. and Divitae Capital.
