Steve Bennett is an angel investor and board member. He left Intuit after 8 years as President and CEO in December 2007. He is a board member of Sun Microsystems, Qualcomm and Intuit and two private companies, Sojern and Nemean Networks where he is the Chairman. He is also the Chairman of the Deans Advisory Board for the Wisconsin School of Business.

At Intuit, Bennett combined the company's historic innovative and customer-driven expertise with strategic and operational rigor. Intuit revenue grew to $2.7 billion in fiscal 2007 from less than $1 billion in fiscal 2000. In addition, operating profits grew to $765 million compared to $119 million over the same period and operating margin percentage expanded to nearly 29 percent in fiscal 2007 from 13.8 percent in 2000.

Under Bennett’s leadership Intuit grew the existing businesses while simultaneously expanding into new markets. This includes Intuit’s emerging presence in online banking and health care, complementing its portfolio of flagship brands – QuickBooks, TurboTax and Quicken software, leaders in the small business, consumer tax preparation and personal finance management fields.

At the same time, Bennett led the transformation of Intuit’s culture. His focus on increasing employee engagement and creating a high-performing organization has led Intuit to being named to Fortune Magazine’s “Best Companies to Work For” list for six consecutive years and Fortune Magazine’s Most Admired Software Company in the Untied States for the last four years.

Bennett joined Intuit from General Electric Co., where he managed complex and diverse organizations – from consumer appliances to financial services – during a 23-year career. He served as an executive vice president and member of the office of the CEO at GE Capital where he was also a board member.

Prior to this appointment, Bennett was president and chief executive officer of GE Capital e-Business. He was also president and chief executive officer of GE Capital Vendor Financial Services, a global leader in providing sales financing for manufacturers and distributors. Prior to that he was the General Manager for the Americas for the GE Electrical Distribution and Control, GM of Refrigeration at GE Appliances, GM of Western Region Sales at GE Medical Systems, and Marketing Manager for GE Supply.

Bennett graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor’s degree in finance and real estate.
