Southern Technology Council

Scott Doron directs the Southern Technology Council and provides senior-level guidance to Southern Growth on projects in the areas of science and technology. Scott authored and co-authored seven reports as part of Southern Growth Policies Board's initiative on telecommunications and economic development. He also managed three regional conferences on telecommunications in Georgia, Virginia and West Virginia.

Scott has also managed several community projects for Southern Growth and authored both Black Wealth/White Wealth: An Issue for the South, a policy paper analyzing the economic condition of African Americans in the South, and Seeing The Future, a self-guided toolkit about economic forces affecting communities.

Prior to joining Southern Growth, Scott was associate manager for strategic research in the South Carolina Department of Commerce. He conducted research on critical issues for South Carolina's economic development including identifying target industries for recruitment, and conducting analysis on industries for site location opportunities.

Scott also has extensive experience in the areas of information technology and computer technology. He managed projects in software, engineering and medicine for Isis Innovation, the technology transfer company of Oxford University in the United Kingdom. While at Oxford, he analyzed academic research for commercial potential and researched potential markets.

Scott holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts from the Albertson's College of Idaho.
