Julie Smith

Julie Smith

Professor of Economics

Lafayette College

Julie Smith is a Professor of Economics at Lafayette College and an invited member of the H.O. Stekler Research Program on Forecasting – affiliated with the Department of Economics at The George Washington University. Her past research has been in two main areas: monetary economics with a focus on inflation and monetary policy, and applied microeconomics with a focus on health and labor. Smith’s work has been published in journals such as the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Macroeconomics, Journal of Forecasting, Health Economics, and Economics and Human Biology. Her current research examines the differential effects of monetary policy.

Prior to her arrival at Lafayette College in 2005, Smith was an Assistant Professor at Trinity University (San Antonio) and a visiting Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University.

She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Economics from Smith College.
