Jay Dryer

Mr. Jay Dryer is responsible for overseeing and tracking aeronautics programs including setting requirements and assessing performance. He ensures that programs are well-coordinated and that best-practices for management are employed. Previously, Dryer was director of the Advanced Air Vehicles and Fundamental Aeronautics Programs, responsible for the overall planning, management and evaluation of the directorate’s efforts to develop tools, technologies, and concepts that enable new generations of civil aircraft that are safer, more energy efficient, and that have a smaller environmental footprint. Before joining NASA, he worked briefly in the private sector and before that was an officer in the U.S. Navy serving in assignments in submarines, deep submergence and with the Navy Special Forces. Mr. Dryer holds a bachelor's of science degree in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master's of science degree in ocean engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
