Eric Berkobin is the Vice President of Engineering for Verizon Telematics (f/k/a/ Hughes Telematics, Inc.) and has been with the company since 2005. He has engineering (both software & hardware) and manufacturing responsibility for OEM, Aftermarket, and Mobile PERS products.Berkobin has helped secure In-Drive contracts with three Fortune 500 clients. He played an integral role in HTI’s 2006 acquisition of Networkfleet, a leading provider of wireless fleet management services. Berkobin’s skillful management of Networkfleet’s intellectual property portfolio helped increase its total number of issued patents from 10 to over 40, with an additional 50 patent applications currently pending.

Prior to joining Verizon Telematics, Berkobin was President of Electronic System Products, Inc. (ESP), an Atlanta-based company he co-founded in 1989. With core competencies in telecommunications systems and commercial and consumer electronics, ESP served clients such as AT&T, Broadcom, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Liberty Media, Scientific Atlanta, TCI and TV Guide. Berkobin managed ESP’s business development, engineering and manufacturing activities, helping to grow the company fromthree original partners to more than 120 employees and $20 million in annual services revenue.

Prior to ESP, Berkobin worked for Texas Instruments, Inc., the Georgia Tech Research Institute and the National Security Agency (NSA) in a variety of engineering and managerial capacities. While at NSA, he was granted top secret (TSSI-TK) clearance. Berkobin earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1980 and is a member of the SAE and the IEEE. He holds 21 issued United States utility patents and has 17 pending utility patent applications. Berkobin currently resides in the greater Atlanta area, and has traveled extensively both domestically and internationally.
