Elizabeth Grossman
Elizabeth Grossman is Director of Civic Projects in the Technology and Civic Engagement (TCE) group at Microsoft Corporation. TCE works to leverage Microsoft expertise and resources to make a sustainable and scalable impact on the pressing issues and challenges in cities in the U.S. TCE currently is working with local and national communities on areas such as smarter and more resilient cities, open data, economic development and innovation, civic tech training, education and opportunity, and efficient government services. Dr. Grossman designs and coordinates strategic partnerships for TCE with governments, universities, civic organizations, and other businesses.
Before joining the Technology and Civic Engagement Group, Dr. Grossman was with the Microsoft Technology Policy Group, which assesses the implications of emerging technologies for policy and society and drives focused engagements with governments and global institutions. There she worked on areas such as intelligent systems; research, education, and innovation; and cloud computing. Before coming to Microsoft she worked in science and research policy with universities, associations, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Grossman received a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Mathematics from Swarthmore College and a Masters and Ph.D. in Computational Physics from the University of Chicago.
