David L. Lam
David J. Lam holds over 25 years of global technology investment and operating experience. He spent the past decade funding transformational companies in the semiconductor industry and related sectors. He is one of the only US venture capitalists actively serving on boards across the semiconductor supply chain from Capital Equipment to Manufacturing to Fabless Integrated Circuits.
Born in Boston and raised in Silicon Valley, David began his career at Robertson Stephens, a leading Silicon Valley-based technology investment bank, and then spent several years at venture-backed technology companies including ONI Systems (acquired by CIENA for $950 million), and as the head of business development for enterprise data storage company Panasas, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group.
In 2005, David joined The Carlyle Group in its San Francisco office as Vice President of the US Growth fund. He subsequently developed global technology investing experience as the lead US-based partner at Asian and European venture and growth capital firms. He is currently a Senior Advisor to Atlantic Bridge Capital, BRV Capital Management and MultiBeam Corporation.
David serves on the boards of SweGaN (GaN epitaxy manufacturer) and Syntiant (AI semis). Notable investments include Twitch (acq. Amazon), Movidius (acq. Intel), Decawave (acq. Qorvo), Lion Semi (acq. by Cirrus Logic), Caption Health (acq. by GE Healthcare), Semsysco (acq. by LAM Research) and Navitas (IPO: NVTS).
David holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and MA in Organizational Sociology from Stanford University, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management where he was a Merit Scholar and recipient of the Patrick J. McGovern Award. He also serves as Board Director of the Association of Asian American Investment Managers (AAAIM), the Asia America MultiTechnology Association (AAMA) and the Bullis Purissima School Education Foundation.
