Coral Davenport

Coral Davenport is the energy and environment correspondent for National Journal. Prior to joining National Journal in 2010, Davenport covered energy and environment for Politico, and before that, for Congressional Quarterly. She writes about everything from global climate change policy to offshore drilling to the economics of renewable energy. In 2010, she was a fellow with the Metcalf Institute for Marine and Environmental Reporting. From 2001 to 2004, Davenport worked in Athens, Greece, as a correspondent for numerous publications, including the Christian Science Monitor and USA Today, covering politics, economics, international relations and terrorism in southeastern Europe. She also covered the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, and contributed travel writing and restaurant reviews to Conde Nast Traveler and the Fodor’s, Time Out, and Eyewitness guidebook series. Davenport started her journalism career at the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton, Massachusetts, after graduating from Smith College with a degree in English literature. As the daughter of a U.S. Foreign Service officer, she grew up living in Korea, Japan, Greece, and the suburbs of Washington, D.C.
