Anthony Shaw

Transportation Program Specialist

ITS America

Anthony first joined ITS America in May 2013 as an intern in the Technical Programs department, and was hired as a Transportation Specialist four months later. Much of Anthony’s work at ITS America has focused on the policies and technical issues concerning autonomous and connected vehicles. As an intern, Anthony contributed to the analysis of public comments filed in response to the Federal Communication Commission’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding Dedicated Short Range Communications. Currently, Anthony works as a researcher for ITS America’s Technology Scan and Assessment project, in which he focuses on vehicle automation, and as a coordinator for the Transportation Management Forum.

Anthony moved to Washington, D.C. permanently on Christmas Day of 2012, after spending the preceding summer in the District as a visiting student. He brings academic expertise in the history of technology and of the environment to ITS America. While earning his Master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, he published original research, served as a graduate assistant, and graduated in the top 1% of his class from the University’s College of Liberal Arts. He brings hands-on automotive experience to the table as well, having worked on cars while growing up in southern California. In his spare time, he enjoys running, camping, playing guitar, volunteering at the National Archives, and attending lectures at the National Air and Space Museum. He holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in History from California State University, Long Beach.
