Wednesday, February 24, 201609:00 AM to 10:30 AM EST

Event Summary

Innovation is a vital resource for the economy and society. But who are America’s innovators? Who is creating the kinds of new technologies and products that improve productivity and fuel growth? And what can policymakers do to empower these individuals and ultimately increase the country’s innovative output?

To answer these questions, ITIF surveyed more than 900 people who qualify as innovators because they have made meaningful, marketable contributions in technology-intensive industries. Among many other findings, the survey results show that women and minorities are significantly underrepresented. As a policy matter, the results also underscore the importance of STEM education, public funding, and high-skilled immigration.

Please join ITIF as it unveils the results of this groundbreaking survey exploring the demographics, educational backgrounds, and institutional affiliations of U.S. innovators. The event will present research results and discuss how the study’s findings can help better inform policymakers seeking to spur innovation.
