Kirby Jefferson is the General Manager for Intel Semiconductor (Dalian), Ltd. (Fab 68) in China.

Fab 68 is Intel’s first 300mm wafer facility in Asia and Intel’s first new fab at a new site since 1992. With a $2.5 billion investment, it is one of the largest foreign private investments in China. Kirby has led the Fab 68 effort from initial concept into high volume manufacturing. Today, Fab 68 manufactures chip sets for leading edge server, desk top and mobile computers and was recently awarded with Intel’s most prestigious team award, the Intel Quality Award (IQA).

Kirby joined Intel in 1980 and has been involved in 9 factory startups, holding a variety of jobs in Manufacturing and Engineering. In 2009 Kirby won the National “Friendship Award” from the Chinese government, China’s highest recognition for contributions to China’s development by foreign experts. Kirby was also selected by the Dalian Government as an official Olympic torch bearer for the 2008 Olympics. Kirby is currently the Executive Chairman of the NE China chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce.

Kirby has a BS and MBA from the University of New Mexico. He is a published author, a commercial rated and licensed pilot and enjoys the outdoors. Kirby and his wife moved to Dalian China in January 2009. They have been married for 36 years, and have 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
