# Reply Comments to the Federal Communications Commission on Broadband Privacy

In April, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proposed an extensive new privacy regime, which would put heightened burdens on broadband providers. ITIF submitted reply comments in this proceeding, arguing that a uniform application of light-touch privacy oversight under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) would far better balance innovation with legitimate privacy interests. There is broad support in the record for the FCC to change course and align its policies with the more innovation-friendly FTC enforcement model, and arguments to the contrary are by-and-large specious.
