# ITIF Applauds House Passage of Trade Promotion Authority, Urges Support for Trade Adjustment Assistance

WASHINGTON—Following passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of a bill to grant the President Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), Stephen Ezell, Director of Global Innovation Policy at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), released the following statement:

*We commend the House of Representatives for passing Trade Promotion Authority today. This vote signals a recognition of the importance of TPA in finalizing trade agreements that will put U.S. companies and U.S. workers in the best position to succeed in the 21**st** century economy. We are living in a globalized world, and without the trade agreements that TPA helps enable, the United States would be stuck on the sidelines in the global competitiveness race. Without a successful vote on Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) though, this trade package will not make it to the president’s desk. We urge the House to vote yes on TAA next week and confirm our commitment to leading in the innovation economy.*
