# Digital Decision-Making: The Building Blocks of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

AI is a transformational technology that has the potential to significantly increase efficiency and innovation across the U.S. economy, creating higher living standards and improved quality of life. Successfully integrating this technology into U.S. industries should be the primary goal of policymakers, and given the rapid pace at which other countries are pursuing this goal, the United States cannot afford to rest on its laurels. In testimony before the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, ITIF’s Daniel Castro calls on policymakers to develop a national strategy to support the development and adoption of AI in U.S. businesses.
