# Clean Energy Poised for Market Domination or More Innovation Needed?

Clean energy deployment employment proponents often advocate for subsidies, mandates, and carbon prices that directly boost the implementation of today’s clean energy technologies. However, the only way to make clean energy cheaper and higher quality than fossil fuels without subsidies is through a more comprehensive innovation strategy, including enhanced research, development and deployment (RD&D) and subsidy reform.
