ITIF's Center for Data Innovation responded to the request for comment from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about a recent hearing on Competition and Consumer Protection in the 21st Century focusing on algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI), and predictive analytics. In these comments, the Center explains the importance of AI in the digital economy and offers ideas for how regulators can provide effective oversight of automated systems so as to both protect consumers and allow innovation to flourish.
