National Academies Report on Genetically Modified Crops Misses the Mark

A recent report from the U.S. National Academy of Sciences contains several inaccuracies and omissions about genetically modified crops, write Val Giddings and Henry Miller in Nature Biotechnology. Most significantly, it muddies the debate about crop yields, gives undue credence and prominence to views backed by paltry peer-reviewed evidence, and provides precious little direction to policymakers on how to recalibrate the regulatory framework to emphasize science-based risk assessment.
