The new Internet marketplace platforms that make up the sharing economy are raising many new policy questions about U.S. labor law and competition. Sharing economy workers need flexibility and ongoing training and support to advance and manage their careers, writes Joe Kennedy in Innovation Files. The government should also change outdated laws to extend the tax treatment of health insurance, retirement savings, and transportation costs to all workers, regardless of their employment status.
