Congress and the administration should build out the Manufacturing USA network closer to the 45 institutes originally intended.

Details

Congress and the administration should include in its budget $1 billion a year for the network. It should also press Congress to eliminate the automatic five- to seven-year federal funding sunset for Manufacturing USA institutes and replace it with a five-year, metrics-based review program with minimum standards of performance focused on the advancement of technology and manufacturing readiness.
