Greenpeace's Misdiagnosis

Greenpeace recently released a report seeking to “dig up dirt” on the ICT industry. The report is critical of the industry for powering data centers with fossil energy, and recommends different energy choices while urging the industry to place their centers in regions with high clean energy access. Yet the report misses the real problem: the fact that clean energy is still too expensive. An innovation-based approach would drive the real costs of clean energy down, and Greenpeace would be better off focusing its attention there.
