Why is the United States one of the few developed nations without a comprehensive national innovation and competitiveness policy? Is it a hyper-partisan political environment and stakeholder resistance? Perhaps, but the real culprit is that too few policymakers and even fewer economic pundits and analysts acknowledge we have competitiveness and innovation problems. And if they do, the solutions they advocate don’t logically lead to developing and effective policy response.
