J.J. Raynor

J.J. Raynor is a Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy leading the Administration’s manufacturing and innovation policy portfolios at the National Economic Council. In addition to refreshing the President’s Strategy for American Innovation, her work includes coordinating interagency policy efforts across innovative sectors including advanced manufacturing, autonomous and connected vehicles, and new on-demand business models. On manufacturing policy, she has helped launch the President’s National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI), the White House’s Supply Chain Innovation Initiative, and new efforts to support manufacturing entrepreneurship including the American Made Scale Up Fund.

She joined the Administration from McKinsey and Co. where she worked on economic development and national competitiveness strategies. Her work at McKinsey included the creation of a labor market intermediary and a manufacturing innovation institute as part of a $1 billion regional development initiative, a knowledge economy development strategic plan for a Middle Eastern country, a national jobs and competitiveness strategy for a council of private sector leaders advising the President of the United States, and the creation of McKinsey Academy, an online education platform for emerging business leaders.

J.J. was a Fulbright Scholar in Malaysia researching capital controls and currency crises. She is a graduate and former trustee of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
