Greg Slater

Greg Slater is the Director of Trade and Competition Policy at Intel Corporation. He is responsible for managing Intel's WDC lobbyists and the Company's Directors of Health IT, Education, Workforce Policy, Immigration and Legal Policy. He also is in charge of influencing efforts concerning competition policy developments worldwide, and establishes and directs the implementation of trade/competitiveness related strategies to advance Intel's worldwide business interests and ensure robust market access for its products.

From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Slater served as Group General Counsel for Intel's Corporate Services Division, which has a budget of more than $3.5 billion. In that capacity, he supervised all legal and regulatory affairs for the division, which included the Security, Environmental Health & Safety, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Affairs, Construction, Real Estate, and Site Development organizations. He has been the lead lawyer for all government agreements related to Intel's factory investments worldwide. These investments range from several hundred million dollars for an assembly test plant to several billion dollars for a manufacturing facility.

From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Slater managed the legal aspects of Intel's environmental, health and safety issues worldwide. Examples of his leadership include co-developing a strategy for the entire semiconductor industry to voluntarily reduce its greenhouse gases. Prior to joining Intel in 1997, Mr. Slater was in private practice at Steptoe & Johnson and then at Latham & Watkins in Washington, D.C. While at those law firms, he engaged in privatization work sponsored by the World Bank and specialized in administrative law and environmental, health and safety by handling U.S. and international regulatory issues for a number of Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Slater began his law career as a clerk for former Chief Judge Albert Engel on the U.S. Court of Appeals, 6th Circuit, after graduating summa cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University.

Mr. Slater has served in a number of professional capacities during his career, including most recently as a board member of the National Coalition for APEC and the U.S./Russia Business Council; Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property Owner's Committee on International Trade Agreements; Vice-Chair of the Industry Trade Advisory Committee for ICT; and Vice-Chair of the ABA Committee on International Trade and Customs. Mr. Slater also has made numerous presentations on international trade, intellectual property, standards and other policy issues to a broad range of audiences, including the American Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association, China's State Council Legislative Affairs Office; Tsinghua University in Beijing, China; and APEC's Committee on Trade and Investment. Mr. Slater has lived in various countries, travelled extensively, and is proficient in French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.
