# Goran Gotev
**Senior Manager EU Government Affairs**

Goran is Senior Manager for Government Affairs and represents Symantec before national, EU and international government bodies in the EMEA region with emphasis on the EU institutions and France. His areas of expertise include cybersecurity, data protection, privacy and critical infrastructure protection, having worked in these fields in both the public and private sector.

Before joining Symantec, Goran was a senior consultant on digital policy issues with high-ranking consultancies Hanover Communications (2016 – 2018) and FleishmanHillard (2014 – 2016). In these capacities, he was entrusted to provide tailored advice to a number of European and Fortune 500 companies on issues related to cybersecurity, data protection and privacy, telecommunications and online platforms, among others.

Goran’s public-sector background includes a short-term assignment as an advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Policy of Bulgaria (2016), where he was in charge of European Affairs, including on the country’s preparation for the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU. Between 2007 and 2014, he worked for Bulgarian Social-Democrat Members of European Parliament (MEPs), including as digital policy adviser to MEP Ivailo Kalfin (2009 – 2014), who was notably the lead rapporteur of the own-initiative report on cybersecurity and critical information infrastructure protection and of the PSI directive and the ITRE shadow rapporteur for the network and information security (NIS) directive.

Goran holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Lille 2 University (France) and, besides his native Bulgarian, is fluent in English and French, and operates in Spanish and Italian.
