Faith Smith

Policy Analyst

ClearPath

Faith is a Policy Analyst at ClearPath, managing ClearPath’s work on energy storage and renewables, including geothermal and hydropower. Additionally she focuses her research on the water-energy nexus and broad technological innovation policies.

Prior to joining ClearPath, Faith worked for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Underground Injection Control Permits Section and at a water and energy software startup. She also worked with Rio Tinto Kennecott Utah Copper’s energy program before embarking to graduate school.

Her graduate study at the University of Texas-Austin centered on the energy-water nexus as related to fossil fuels, water management and international energy and environmental policy. Her Dual Masters thesis focused on a net water assessment for coal mining in West Virginia, the impacts on surrounding aquifers, potential policy implications and future use of water.

Faith is originally from Price, Utah, and loves to spend her free time exploring national parks.

Geothermal energy has yet to follow the trajectory of rapidly expanding, cheap renewables like wind and solar. To unlock the enormous potential of this clean, reliable source of energy, the federal government can drive innovation and address barriers to adoption.
