Eric Masanet
Eric Masanet is an associate professor in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University, where his research and teaching focuses on sustainable technology systems. He co-led the oft-cited 2007 Report to Congress on U.S. data center energy use and efficiency, and has published several subsequent studies on the energy efficiency, carbon footprint, and enabling effects of IT systems. Most recently, he was lead author of a study for Google on the efficiency potential of cloud-based business software. He is Editor in Chief of Resources, Conservation and Recycling, a leading journal on resource systems
efficiency. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, with a concentration in environmentally-conscious design and manufacturing.
