Efforts to decarbonize heavy industries such as ammonia, cement, steel, and chemicals are gathering steam in the United States and elsewhere. But eliminating the enormous greenhouse gas emissions from these industries will require much more than simply substituting clean fuels. Decarbonization will often require substantially retooling and fundamentally redesigning an industry. That in turn will likely affect the state of competition, sometimes dramatically, as new technologies and processes upset companies that are currently dominant players, opening doors for new entrants. Which industries and sectors are the ripest targets for green transitions? What will those transitions entail? And how can policymakers help U.S. companies capitalize on these opportunities instead of being left behind?
Watch now for expert panel discussion exploring how the United States can take advantage of opportunities to develop cleaner industries that are more globally competitive.
