Governments and private companies are turning their attention to the metaverse for its potential to offer societal benefits and commercial opportunities. According to a report by Analysis Group, it is predicted to contribute $3trn to global GDP by 2031. But the metaverse is still in its infancy and as yet, not clearly defined. Its potential may be promising, but rapid adoption without safeguarding carries a number of threats and vulnerabilities for its users.
